Bushfire Management officer

(BPAD Level 2+)

Travers bushfire & ecology need leaders in integrated ecological and bushfire management to join our in-demand ecological consulting services, working out of our Kariong office, NSW.

You will be involved in the planning of structure plans and subdivisions, major tourist developments, and other special fire purpose protection facilities. You will contribute to and prepare Bushfire Attack Level Certificates, Bushfire Protection Assessment Reports, Bushfire Management Plans, Hazard Reduction Plans, Bushfire Emergency Evacuation Plans, building compliance certificates and assist with the consideration of ‘high risk’ land uses. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our existing bushfire team Ecologists, arborists and restoration ecologists to define landscapes that respond to bushfire risks.

To fill this role, you will need to have a passion for creating safer and resilient communities as NSW and beyond as regions grow in population and opportunity, and as it confronts the challenges of sustainability and climate change adaptation.

Flexible working hours

As a field and office based bushfire consultant, working hours are generally between 9am – 5.30pm with a minimum of a 38 hour week. Out of hours work will be required subject to the project requirements, including occasional weekend work on an overtime basis. Overnight stays are occasionally required for remote locations or sites where return travel on a daily basis is not practical.

Benefits

Salary range

$75,000 – $120,000 per annum, plus superannuation (dependent upon experience)

Interview process

All successful interview candidates will be invited to attend our office over a half day period to be introduced to our team. On that day a more formal interview will be undertaken with an opportunity for you to ask questions. Applicants from distant locations will be required to attend a zoom interview and to meet the team electronically.

As a COVID 19 response, all applicants will be required to prepare and submit a short phone video as demonstration of your presentation skills. This is not required to be professionally shot, just short and concise approximately 1 minute in length to demonstrate your ability to present in this medium and demonstrate your interpersonal skills.
