An exciting opportunity for an energetic and passionate GIS Officer has opened for working out of our Kariong office, NSW. This job is open as a full or part time position with a minimum 24 hours per week.
About the role
- Undertake complex map preparation of a high standard for consultancy projects.
- Analyse spatial data and to present that data in accordance with predefined protocols.
- Prepare complex map sets and ensure proper keeping of Geodatabase.
- Work with a tight knit project team to support each other.
- Work to a clearly defined scope of works, program and fee structure based on client needs.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, or soon to graduate with relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Training in the operation of ArcGIS, QGIS and experience with different spatial data file formats and data conversion.
- Working knowledge and experience in spatial databases and understanding of datums, projections and co ordinates systems.
- Experience in desktop digitising, georeferencing, cartography and map production.
- A high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to acquire new skills.
- A demonstrated interest in ecology, bushfire planning and / or environmental science.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, as you will liaise with team members from different disciplines, clients, and government agencies to ensure delivery of innovative solutions that meet client and broader community expectations.
- Highly organised to plan and manage projects.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with GPS units and field data capture, conversion and mapping.
- Experience with using DWG files in a GIS environment.
